These classes are run by GCRA  (Grampian Cardiac Rehabilitation Association www.gcra.ork.uk).  The first class is free, then £4 per class.  A £10 yearly membership to GCRA is also required.

The Circuit class comprises of:

  • Gentle 15 minute warm up
  • 30 mins circuit based exercise (2 mins on each station e.g. stepper machine, trampette, gentle walk, steps,  hula hoop, dancing, walking) alternative gentler options available for all.
  • Optional Zumba dance!
  • Gentle 10 mins cool down with standing/seated stretches
  • 5 mins seated relaxation

The class is suitable for anyone with the following:

  • Obesity
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Heart problems e.g. angina, stent, bypass, valve replacement
  • Mental Health issues

Participants should be able to walk at a gentle pace for 45 mins before attending the class.

The classes can be attended via referral from doctor, nurse or consultant for anyone with heart problems, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity or mental health problems. Please get in touch if your health professional needs more information/referral forms.

Self referral is possible for those with a long term stable conditions and the class would be of benefit.

The Chair Based Class is suitable for those that are unsteady on their feet and would like to improve their strength, balance and mobility in order to get out and about easier.
The class consists of a gentle seated warm up, seated/standing movement, balance exercises, band based strength exercises, stretches and relaxation. Participants can be seated whenever required.
